Crackas get season off to a rocking start

The Crackas opened their outdoor season campaign with a resounding 7-0 win over New Rovers B. Goals came from newcomers Leshane (2), Katrinks (2) and Julie-Ann with Pips and Schmee making sure that their names got onto the score sheet as well.

Well done to Milly for taking the coveted Cracka of the Match award on her debut for the team. Leshane was awarded the Moment of the Match for inadvertently bestowing a ‘bruise badge’ on Katrinks with a marginally errant shot at goal. No stranger to the Yellow Jersey award, Mouse opened her crusade in Yellow Jersey domination with a sterling performance at her bachelorette patsy the day before. Her antics were so exceptional in fact that she FTP’ed (failed to pitch) for the first game of the season.

All round chuffedness at a cracking performance, its going be a great season!

March club night

We had some key members that were MIA for the first club night of the season so it turned out to be a fairly quiet affair but good value nonetheless.

Indoor finale

The Crackas finished their indoor season last night on a high with a resounding 6-1 triumph over the Sandton A ladies. Special mention must be made of Leshane for her double hat-trick and Shan for her solid performance in defense. The win snuck us into 6th position on the final log, eeking out Morningside B on goal difference.

Thanks to the team for their commitment over the past few weeks; here's to a successful outdoor season.

Going to the chapel ...

... and they gonna get ma-a-a-rried ... a big shout out to Marshy and Pauli who got engaged this past weekend. Congrats from all of us!

What a cracka!

The 34th Midmar Mile took place earlier this month with Lyndsay “Marshy” Marshall taking on the Game Charity Challenge. The challenge requires that entrants swim all 8 races of the Midmar Mile (a total of 12,8 km) and raise a minimum amount of R10,000. All the proceeds are donated to various charities which include the learn-to-swim foundation amongst others.

Marshy successfully completed all 8 miles in an average time of 26 minutes per race. What a quicker! She also raised a staggering R22,000 which will hopefully be used wisely to increase water awareness and safety.

Well done Marshy, you are a cracka! What a great example of how one person can make a difference. Go you good thing!

Valentines match

The Crackas were hard pressed for players last night. The Southern Gauteng Hockey Association very thoughtfully scheduled our indoor game for 18h30. Accordingly the die hard romantics of the team dusted the rest of us for candles, wine, dinner and shoinking.

Being the rather jaded and cynical individual I am, I personally think that Valentines Day is a conspiracy between florists, jewelry shops, card shops etc to exploit love-struck individuals. Whilst I concede that every couple needs to spend some ‘couple’ time together, I find the whole commercial aspect of Valentines Day rather deplorable.

Nonetheless, the real reason for this post is to thanks Ang, Mousey, Nicole, Sarah and Shannon for running their asses off last night. Yip, we went down but we had fun doing so!
